The Spring Charity Needs Your Support in the
My Favourite Voucher Codes Charity Poll
this December 2025!
Ensuring Our Community Thrives and Grows!
The Spring Charity supports vulnerable families and individuals in the Northampton area, particularly within Castle Ward, focusing on children aged 0–5 and their caregivers. This includes families from ethnic minority communities, asylum seekers, domestic violence survivors, those living in temporary accommodation, and young parents. The charity also provides support to the wider local community facing social, emotional, or financial hardship, aiming to reduce disadvantage and promote wellbeing through early years care, education, and social support.

Why Vote for The Spring Charity
The Castle Ward is one of the most deprived areas in the county, where life expectancy is 10 years below the town average. Our work supports ethnic minority communities, asylum seekers, care leavers, young parents, domestic abuse survivors, and families in temporary accommodation. Many face poverty, housing instability, language barriers and poor access to healthcare. Some parents we support haven’t been parented themselves and lack confidence, role models, or trust in services. Women from marginalised backgrounds often feel unable to raise health concerns.
We learn most about families’ needs through trusted relationships built in our breakfast club, lunch club, stay and play sessions, craft café and our women’s group, Queen Bees. These safe, informal spaces help families open up. We also work with health visitors, early years teams and housing providers. Our response includes inclusive groups, one-to-one support and wellbeing activities that build trust, resilience and confidence.
The Spring Charity has a strong track record of responding to the health needs of families with young children in some of Northampton’s most disadvantaged communities. Our work addresses the wider social factors that impact health; poverty, trauma, isolation, housing insecurity, and the barriers families face in accessing services. We run daily and weekly groups including breakfast club, lunch club, stay and play sessions, our women’s group Queen Bees, and targeted school readiness workshops.
These consistent, relationship-based services allow us to build trust with families who may not feel confident engaging with formal services. We create informal, safe spaces where families are listened to, respected and supported without judgement. Through this approach, we’ve supported families to register with GPs, attend health checks, engage with speech and language referrals, and access domestic abuse services. We’ve helped parents navigate EHCP processes and advocate for their children with additional needs.
In response to rising need, we are now delivering tailored sessions on maternal wellbeing, diabetes awareness, and family nutrition workshops to support healthy eating on a budget. By working in partnership with health visitors, early years teams, midwives and housing services, we act as a bridge between families and statutory services. Our consistent, inclusive, and compassionate approach enables us to reach those often left behind, building confidence, reducing stigma, by supporting long-term improvements in health and wellbeing.
We reach a wide mix of families by making our services as open and welcoming as possible. Everything we run is free and informal, including our daily breakfast club, lunch club, stay-and- play sessions, women’s group (Queen Bees), and Taste of Home cooking groups. These help us connect with people who may feel anxious about attending formal services. We work closely with health visitors, housing teams and children’s services
